The Official Deets
Lynnette Adair’s short story, The Magical Suit, was included in, Beach Days, an anthology published by Cat & Mouse Press, October 2015. Her debut novel, The Sea Sprite Inn, was published by Cat & Mouse Press in July 2016. The Sea Sprite Inn was awarded 3rd place by the Delaware Press Association in 2017.
Lynnette lives in Hillsborough, NJ with her husband. She is “LaLa” to her Three. In. One. Year. Grandbabies! She doesn’t have a pet of her own, but frequently stops her neighbors to pet their dogs for a quick fur fix!
When asked about reinvention recently during an interview, Lynnette commented, “I’ve reinvented myself so many times that it now feels frighteningly familiar. My bio reads like a compilation from an entire neighborhood, and it truly is great fodder for stories. Air Force veteran, professional ballroom dancer, insurance adjuster, waitress, retail saleswoman, geriatric caregiver…the list is endless. But THIS time, it’s different. Becoming an author was not so much a reinvention, but the actualization of my destiny.” Then she paused with a huge grin and added, “Oooo…I like that last line!“
The Fun Stuff
What can I tell you that isn’t in my official bio? Would it be a surprise to know I can devour three novels a week? I suppose all authors first began as readers, didn’t they?
I grew up on Little House On The Prairie, Nancy Drew, Ramona and Beezus, and the Boxcar Children. These books allowed me to escape from a particularly horrible childhood and I’m grateful still today for them.
I’ve never been patient. It seems like I had to wait several lifetimes before I finally had the chance to do what I love. The kids were first…you know what I mean, right? But when our kids were all launched, it was time. So I started to write.
My husband suggested I try a contest, so I sent in a short story. Much to my surprise, the publisher asked if I would be interested in submitting a proposal to write a book of short stories. And that’s how I stumbled into the world of writing.
My little writing studio is super quiet, but can you believe I’m still so weird I have to wear earplugs when I write?
Yes, even when I’m entirely alone.
It’s a “thing”.
Maybe you caught the fun fact that I’ve lost over 70 (Yes – SEVENTY!!!) pounds and have kept it off for over SIX years! I’m super passionate about it. I’m hoping it gives me more time with my grandbabies!
My husband, however, is NOT happy about the changes and tells everyone I only feed him grass clippings and sawdust. He might be right. Poor fella’.
Let’s Hang Out
Lynnette loves to join in on the fun of book club discussions. The ladies of the Baypointe Community Multi Book Club Group certainly set the bar high, but no matter the location, Lynnette makes sure the fun shows up. She can join in person, or use any number of tech solutions to join you in the virtual fashion.
Drop me a line!
I love connecting with readers and reviewers.
Send me a pic of where you’re reading my books.
Oh, heck…send me anything! Let’s just see how much trouble we can get into!
